Keisa Reynolds, also known as K. and Sula Found, is a writer, performer, and community educator from Richmond, California. A teaching artist since age 14, Keisa believes that art and storytelling allows us to explore challenging topics, build self-compassion and deepen how we relate to others — all of which moves us closer to liberation.
Most recently, Keisa wrote about their journey of non-binary parenthood for the anthology We Grow the World Together: Parenting Toward Abolition. Their creative writing and photography have been featured in collaborative zines since 2009. One of the last users on Livejournal, Keisa’s writing echoes the ethos of the online diary era, offering an homage to giving our past selves some grace.

Since 2014, Keisa has shared live stories across stages, living rooms, and backyards in Chicago and the suburbs. They co-founded Whine Club with Nohemi Rosales and hosted the live storytelling series monthly at Uncharted Books. With J K Chukwu, they produced an artist conversations series called CONNECTIONS at Jimmy Beans Coffee.
Keisa writes about media, culture, and social movements for publications like Contra Costa Pulse and In These Times. For publications like VICE and Hooligan Mag, Keisa has profiled artists like comedian Rebecca O’Neal, director Sam Bailey, and writer Hanif Abdurraqib.
Keisa has a BA in Cultural Studies from Columbia College Chicago, where they along with other student leaders organized for three years for the liberal arts college to create its first comprehensive sexual assault policy, which was finally implemented in 2015.
Keisa holds an MA in Women’s Studies and Gender Studies from Loyola University Chicago, where they graduated with distinction for their thesis on Black women's anti-rape organizing in the United States between 1965 and 1985. They are co-producing a documentary with Aaron Brokenbough, Jr. on the same topic.
In 2016 Keisa received the Windy City Times “30 Under 30” Award, honoring the best and brightest individuals in Chicago’s LGBTQQIA+ youth community.
Before you go: I have 10+ years of experience writing for publications like In These Times, Contra Costa Pulse, Hooligan Mag, and VICE.
