I Used to be the Sun (Essay Excerpt)
I hadn’t realized how long the time apart felt until I stood in the lobby of his building. In the elevator, Mars pressed the button to his floor, and in one swift move, turned to me and cradled my face with his hands. It startled me.
This is an excerpt from a full-length essay titled "I Used to be the Sun." It is the first essay from Sula Found's collection Negotiation, which is a work in progress. Illustrations were done by the wonderful Eva Azenaro Acero for the I Used to be the Sun zine, released in June 2023.
